The Daimler mkI history is here

I had originally bought the old Sovereign model from ebay, which is already a few years old. When I received it, I was quite disappointed with the quality of the molding, the white metal parts were sketchy, the detail coarse . So I called Mark Day from sovereign 2000, he is a very kind man and he is preparing a new Daimler, the beginnings are superb but for when ??. Then an opportunity appeared on ebay with a model of Accurate Armour which is much better finished, so this is the one I mounted. For those who are not in a hurry, I suggest they wait a bit because the photos of the master of Sovereign 2000 are superb and the molding of this brand is of a very high quality, I could notice it with the Humber. I have built the model as indicated on the instructions without any problem, just a small joint to hide when the large turret hatch is closed, and pay attention to the suspension which is quite complicated, you have to take your time and well study the archive photos because the photos of the instructions are not very clear. I foolishly forgot to take photos before passing the primer, the only additions are blankets, crates, bucket, etc …

The figurines came from the bodi

My decoration will be this one, I love it !!

All the paintings are Tamiya. First a layer of gray panzer as a base then three layers of desert yellow and deck tan at 50/50 because I find the desert yellow too yellow for my taste. Then a last layer of tan deck on top to lighten and soften the shade.

Then the black brown camouflage. Hide with slime then hairspray then black-brown (mixture of flat brown and flat black), hot water with a brush to soften the hairspray and brushing with a hard brush. To reduce contrast, small layer of very dilute tan deck

The beginning of the patina, the 76 decal was done at the printer, burnt umber oil filters then scuffs with a piece of foam.

Almost the end for the Daimler, the research light is missing. I tried to represent a well-worn vehicle in pursuit of the DAK after the battle of El Alamein. The idea was to vary the beige color slightly by the boxes, covers, etc. without too much contrast across the entire vehicle. The formerly blue bucket brings a touch of color. in reality it interferes with the opening of the hatch but it will be said that the crew was passing through the top of the turret ..

Then the work on the figurines, on the basic color light khaki, I tried to bring nuances in the shades so as not to be too monochrome

And now, the finished diorama
