The Landsverk M-38 Pantserwagen history is here
This article was first published on May 12, 2012
I received this week a new kit which I missed much and was difficult to find. The Landsverk L-180 (or M-38 Pantserwagen ) formerly produced by scaleline (Dutch brand). Landsverk M-38 was no more produced since scaleline had closed. By chance, Crossroad scale models bought the scaleline mouldings and I could get this model through tanktoko a very friendly dutch seller (ask Gert) for a decent rate (75 € , add € 15 shipping for France).
the resin is of good quality, a bit greasy but without bubbles, definition is good, resin sprues are big and require a little work but all in all it is a very good kit of a rare model.
When I received the two models ordered from scalemodels crossroad in May 2012, they seemed to me of a good quality. Unfortunately, after closer inspection I realized that the resin was full of millions of micro-bubbles.
I tried to fill them with a mixture of acetone and putty without success. After searching in vain on the net other ways to do, I decided to contact Gert at tanktoko (he had sold me the model). I explained the problem to him and he very kindly made arrangements for me to receive another model without bubbles this time. I thank him again here: Gert thank you!! thanks also to crossroad models for being kind and serious.
After all these troubles, I went to the assembly. This time, I have virtually no bubbles. Although there are still some shortcomings due I think to the age of the mold or to the molding technique, the model is correct, so let’s see the photos where you can see the changes on the model. the hull and the turret were first primered whence the colour difference. It still lacks the bofors 37 mm gun I ordered from armo but not yet received.
The figure comes from a hornet holland modified german tanker
The Landsverk M-38 is finally over. It was not easy to achieve, but this vehicle is rare and therefore produced by a artisanal firm that I said was correct to send me a full copy because the first one was dotted with bubbles. The grass carpet comes from GPP and many clumps were removed a matte varnish was added. The figure is reworked to match the Dutch uniform time (gray work suit): breast pockets are changed, holster and charger are added, the belt is changed, the head is a hornet romanian soldiers ref, the helmet is the model 34 with the rosette in the center.
