The Marmon-Herrington MkII Armoured Car history is here

Hello everyone, here is the assembly of the South African armored car Marmon-Herrington mkII from IBG. Initially, I had bought the mobile field force type and then I came across these two pictures on the internet ……

So I had to change the model into a radio version of the DAK.

For the history, there is a specific book on the subject

The IBG model is a quite good model, plastic is not too soft or too brittle, there are a lot of parts for an armoured car, assembly therefore requires attention and patience. Some modifications were needed to represent this model. The first is the replacement of the english radio station by a german 12 Fu from Mr Modellbau and his desk. The opposite side is fitted with a table with maps and documents.

Then the model is closed for the exterior work

The rear wheels were changed as in the photo. There were two models of wheels: Firestone and Dunlop. In the photo it appears that the rear wheels are Dunlop and those in front Firestone (those of IBG box). So I bought Dunlop wheels from Panzer Art.

The other changes are visible in the photos, they include:
– A rear radio mast
– The rear suspension is modified and lowered
– Three mounts for jerrycans
– All fasteners tools
– The frame antenna
– The  towing cable
– The front gauge rods
– The front fender reinforcements
– The rear tailboard

The figure comes from Alpine.

The skeleton is obtained from Verlinden, a molding of plaster was done then dislocated to present the bones separated.

Hello everyone, after assembly, here comes the paint of this pretty armored car. If we base on the photo (see assembly), the vehicle appears to have already well lived and is somewhat worn. After putting a light gray primer, a dark gray layer is applied and then through the technique of lacquer a white sandy yellow layer is applied and rubbed, the rest is a matter of filters and pigments. The figure is the Kombat brand, the skeleton is obtained from Verlinden, a molding of plaster was done then dislocated to present the bones separated.
